How does stop-on-demand work?

Stop-on-demand is straightforward:
  • You can decide at ANY moment to recover 100% of the control over a contracted work module.
  • At this point Poeware will deliver to you ALL the deliverables, including those deliverables that are still underway (which you may decide to finish yourself).
  • Your financial obligations regarding the cancelled work modules also stop at this point.
Our stop-on-demand business model is supported by our weekly submittals of status reports, including ALL the deliverables up to that point, as well as the proposal for the following week's activities.

After you carefully inspect our weekly deliverables, you may decide to:
  1. accept our proposal and let us work on your modules one more week, or
  2. change the scope of the work module and provide us with new directions to follow in the next week, or
  3. stop our work. You might decide that the work module is mature enough, or that your team can take care of the outstanding details, or simply you decide that the project needs to be cancelled for business reasons.
In other words, stop-on-demand gives you FULL CONTROL over the contracted work modules.

How does stop-on-demand reduce your costs?

Simply put: stop-on-demand allows you to increase your technical capability without the associated costs and risks.

Let's start by describing the problems that you may find when partnering with other providers.

Other IT service providers will offer you one of these two possibilities when you contract a task to them: either you pay per hour (effort based), or you agree on a fixed price, which results in either milestone payments or long-term contractual obligations. In the meantime you have limited control over the quality and delivery specifications. Needless to say, these models are prone to unpleasant surprises if requirements and quality are not managed correctly.

Clients would usually prefer fixed-price projects, because they transfer the risk of delay to the service provider. Unfortunately, the provider, knowing this well, might inflate both the price and the duration of the project.

This explains why fixed-price projects are often more expensive and take longer to complete than effort-based projects. This assumes that the level of IT competence is the same in both cases.

On the other hand, clients often do not trust providers who work on a per-hour basis, suspecting that the work time is being inflated in order to increase costs. It is true that service providers that do not think about the long-term benefits of a stable partnership with a client might have an incentive to act this way.

There are two solutions to this dichotomy:
  • Trust between client and supplier, or
